Description
How do these injections work?
Mounjaro
Clinical trials have shown that Mounjaro causes significant weight loss due to its dual-agonist approach, activating both GLP-1 and GIP receptors. However, despite its effectiveness, there is still much to be learned about Mounjaro and its potential long-term effects.
Ozempic
Ozempic works by mimicking a naturally occurring hormone. As those hormone levels rise, the molecules go to your brain, telling it you’re full. It also slows digestion by increasing the time it takes for food to leave the body. This is similar to the effect of bariatric surgery.
Wegovy
Wegovy acts on areas of the brain which are involved in regulating your appetite. It increases feelings of fullness, reduces feelings of hunger and reduces the preference for high-fat foods. It also reduces blood sugar by promoting the release of insulin when blood sugar levels are high.
Are Mounjaro, Ozempic and Wegovy the same drugs?
No. Ozempic and Wegovy are brand names for a drug called semaglutide. Mounjaro is the brand name for a different drug called tirzepatide. The drugs work in similar ways to reduce appetite, but there are some differences.
