  After the intake, the practitioner will ask to see the part of the body that is causing discomfort or is tender and based on what you report they will decide where to mobilize the cups.
• Cup placement:
  The practitioner will place cups on the patients back, neck, and shoulders (among other places) and create a vacuum with suction. The cups can be left on and/or (usually) moved around to other locations.
• Heat application:
  To create a vacuum, the cups are heated and the traditional method of doing so is using fire cupping which involves heating them with a flame before placing them on the skin. Cups can also be applied using a suction pump. without heat, in some cases.
